UN approves shipment of pediatric medical supplies to North Korea

A U.S. nonprofit has received a UN sanctions waiver to ship another batch of medical and rehabilitation equipment to North Korea, though the country’s COVID-19 border controls will likely complicate or delay delivery of sending.

The Ignis community will have until May 2023 to ship more than $500,000 in aid to North Korea, says a letter posted on the UN Security Council’s website. The non-governmental organization (NGO) plans to send a range of items, including specialist wheelchairs, an electroencephalogram (EEG) and children’s toys.
