Tesla Model Y cargo arrives in Dubai for first UAE deliveries

Tesla appears set to begin first Model Y deliveries in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the coming weeks.

The automaker opened its order books for the electric SUV in September 2021, offering only the Long Range (LR) variant priced at AED 234,990 (~CAD $81,100).

The Design Studio estimated that the first deliveries would begin in “early 2022”, and it appears to be on schedule.

According to Tesla ship tracker Morten Grove (@mortenlund89), Daedalus Leader arrived in Jebel Ali Port in Dubai on January 22, 2022 with a shipment of Model Ys.

The news was confirmed by a booking holder who was told their electric SUV had arrived and been unloaded from the ship.

Grove says the ship likely had Model 3s on board as well, but this has not been confirmed.

Only Model 3 and Model Y are now offered for sale in the UAE. Previously, customers could place an order for the refreshed Model S and Model X, but prices and delivery dates were recently removed from the website.

The automaker currently has a network of 5 Superchargers in the country, with 4 more expected to open before the end of the first quarter of 2022.
