The key logistics asset of Eastern Mining Co., which is one of Russia’s top 10 ports in terms of dry cargo transshipment, updated the monthly shipment record. According to June results, the company shipped 2.15 million tonnes of coal to ships, 16% more than the previous record.
“All our achievements are the merit not only of digitizing production and modernizing the fleet, but above all of the team always striving to do more,” commented Aleksey Tkachenko, Executive Director of Coal Sea Port of Shakhtyorsk.
The growth in shipping volumes is the result of systematic work in previous years to increase port productivity and expand the fleet. The belt conveyor network was extended, two ship loaders were installed on the pier. Last year, Rocktree VGK Stevedor purchased two new self-propelled barges, each with 7500 DWT. After commissioning two vessels and optimizing production, port throughput increased by 19.5%.
The closest plans are to extract and ship 11 million tons of coal in 2022, as well as to increase the volume of daily shipments to 100,000 t.
