TEHRAN – Hojjatollah Abdolmaleki, the Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare, hailed the performance of the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) during a visit to the 26th International Exhibition of Oil, Gas, Refining and Iranian petrochemicals (Iran Oil Show 2022).
Speaking to the press on Monday, Abdolmaleki said that NITC is one of the world’s top three shipping companies active in the transportation of petroleum and petroleum products.
The official highlighted some of the company’s achievements over the past few months and noted that oil shipments by the NITC fleet have almost doubled since the new government took office in July 2021.
“The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) currently has no problem shipping crude oil worldwide as NITC has sufficient capacity to meet all NIOC demands,” the minister said.
Abdolmaleki further noted that his ministry will support NITC for the domestic manufacture of oil tankers, saying, “We support this company by using facilities provided by affiliated banks to build tankers inside the country.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the official also mentioned his ministry’s plans to support knowledge-based enterprises and said that his ministry’s subsidiaries are taking positive steps towards knowledge-based production.
Last April, National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Managing Director Mohsen Khojasteh-Mehr hailed NITC’s important role in boosting the country’s oil exports during the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20th).
Highlighting the important role of the NITC fleet in increasing the country’s petroleum and petroleum product exports, Khojasteh-Mehr said, “This success (increase in sales of oil and gas condensate) came at a time when the sanction conditions have become even stricter”.
“Oil export is the result of a long chain of activities in various sectors, including exploration, development, production and transportation, and our dear colleagues at the National Iranian Oil Company have contributed greatly to the achieving this goal,” said Khojasteh-Mehr.
The performance of the National Iranian Tanker Company and the round-the-clock efforts of the sailors of the company’s fleet in the transportation of oil and petroleum products have been the focus of attention of the country’s authorities in recent months, as he was also liked by Oil Minister Javad Oji and other cabinet members.
