Chaffee County Public Health receives first shipment of Moderna COVID-19 pediatric vaccine – by Ark Valley Voice staff

By Wednesday 12:00 p.m., Chaffee now has Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 pediatric vaccines

Chaffee County Public Health (CCPH) received its first shipment of the COVID-19 Moderna pediatric vaccine which was recently cleared and approved for children 6 months to 5 years of age. On Wednesday morning, he also learned that he now has the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children 6 months to 4 years old. The CCPH has opened the calendar to respond to the request.

Appointments can be made by calling the CCPH main office at 719-539-4510. CCPH will update its immunization resource document in the coming days once it can verify other local providers who are willing to vaccinate this demographic.

Recently, CCPH has responded to numerous calls and emails in which the trend is that the public does not know what to do if they test positive or if they are close contact with someone who has tested positive. . Although these protocols have not changed in months, it is a good reminder that CCPH must continue to disseminate messages with the protocols and expectations even if there are no changes.

CCPH will continue to distribute free rapid tests while supplies last. Currently, the CCPH has an extensive inventory. For those having trouble finding rapid tests, they can pick up a box during business hours at the Touber Building, 448 East First St., Suite 137.
