American Sugar Refining Receives 18,000 Ton Cargo on New Barge





American Sugar Refining Inc. (ASR) has received the first shipment of raw sugar from its new Knot Refined at its Domino Sugar Yonkers refinery.

Last Thursday, the 450-foot-long barge delivered 18,000 tons of raw sugar grown and ground in South Florida by ASR’s parent companies – Florida Crystals Corporation and Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida – to the factory. , which operated on the Hudson River. for over 120 years.

“We are proud of our heritage of providing family-supporting union jobs in Yonkers and helping to boost our local economy,” said Dominick Tursi, acting refinery manager. “Knot Refined not only reflects our company’s investment in its future, but also in our plant in particular and in the city of Yonkers.”
