In a recent tweet regarding the situation in Ukraine, Kanani said that Iran is “against war and supports ceasefire and peace”.
Referring to the “baseless accusation” that Iran supplied arms to Russia during the Ukraine war, Kanaani pointed out that such baseless claims are made daily to justify the regular practice of shipping arms to Russia. Ukraine.
“Those who blame Iran are to blame both for starting the war and for continuing it. Iran is opposed to war and is in favor of a ceasefire and peace,” the Iranian spokesman said.
In a statement last week, Kanaani once again dismissed Ukraine’s repeated and baseless accusations that Iran supplied arms to Russia.
It comes after Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said he had asked Tehran to “stop the flow of arms to Russia”.
“Emotionally charged allegations and accusations without proof do not help to resolve the Ukrainian crisis,” the Iranian spokesman said.
Kanaani reiterated Iran’s stance of “active neutrality” regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine, urging kyiv to stop its “blame game”.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian dismissed media controversy over Iran’s alleged support for Russia in the war in Ukraine, saying Iran had provided the Russia a limited number of drones months before the war in Ukraine.
Tehran has repeatedly rejected in the strongest terms Western claims that Iran has delivered weapons and drones to Russia for use against Ukraine, saying the country has long cooperated with Moscow on defense and pursues conflict resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.
